Is anybody doing the AIDS walk fundraiser in New York City this weekend? If not, but you are free on Sundays, who would be interested in doing a 10k walk?

And... also.. erm... I kind of didn't do the fundraising part because I'm too shy to ask people for money even for charities =/ Yeah... rather silly... but as one of my dearest friends likes to say, it is what it is.






Let's just say being from a lower-income family tends to render a person too mortified to ask... at least I'm no longer ashamed to have others know.. I used to make a great effort to hide it all the way through high school, even going as far as slipping away and walking rather than being seen going into a taxi. I was ridiculous, but hey.. when people do find out and your sensitive 11-year-old self gets teased... well, some wounds never fade. I went to school with a bunch of assholes.

Here's hoping at least *some* of them are no longer assholes. A few have already turned out okay.. even turned nice!
